Peak To Fong 2011

Every year, Hong Kong Dog Rescue organizes a fund raising dog walk, which starts at The Peak, on the top of Hong Kong Island, and winds its way down to the famous entertainment district of Lan Kwai Fong.

The event aims not only to raise money for the non-profit organization, but also to promote responsible pet ownership, and build awareness of pet adoption as an alternative way to find a loyal canine companion.

This year, Disney is sponsoring the charity event, and I had the opportunity to design the souvenir tee. I was more than happy to give back to this worthwhile cause, as several years ago, I myself adopted my dog from HKDR.

The turn out was great, with several thousand people (and nearly as many dogs!) joining the walk this morning, including celebrities Sandy Lam and Josie Ho, who posted pics of themselves wearing the tees!

Ya, I know some of it's kinda kooky, and probably wouldn't fly in N. America, but Asians love anything cute and quirky. People lined up for it! We got picked up by Huffington Post and Perez Hilton. Lol.

Toy Story x Bossini

Today is the launch of our Toy Story collaboration with Hong Kong based fashion retailer Bossini. A pop-up shop resembling Andy's bedroom has been re-created to merchandise the product, with celebrity Joey Yung as the spokesmodel. The signature apparel and accessories pieces in the collection, as well as the pop-up shop concept, were designed by renowned creative studio AllRightsReserved.

CLOT x 84-74 Lab x Disney Alice Windbreaker

One of the featured items we are launching at our store opening today is this Alice In Wonderland inspired windbreaker. Designed by Kazuki Kuraishi under his new label 84-74 lab, the jacket features keyhole-shaped welded pockets and zipper pulls shaped as keys, shown here worn by CLOT's Edison Chen. This very limited edition jacket retails for US$1100.00, and is available exclusively at Man Is In The Forest Taipei.

Setting up for our pop-up shop grand opening tomorrow. The space was designed by Japanese botanical artist Makoto Azuma. All the plants in the installation are real, and use a new biotechnology where the plants do not require sunlight, and only minimal water to survive.

Azuma-san's designs "aim to increase the existential value of plants by finding out the most mysterious figure only owned by flowers and plants and converting it to the artistic expression."

We're having the launch of our 2nd stop of the Travelling Mickey exhibition in Hong Kong today. Hong Kong based artist, Eric So, who contributed one of the 10 designs, will be joining us at the opening event. The exhibition is on display at Langham Place Mall in Mongkok. Travelling Mickey Exhibition

Our Travelling Mickey exhibition launched today at Man Is In The Forest. Size Magazine did a great cover story for us. I love all the designs, but I have my eye on these few in particular that I'm gonna try to put a bid in for. Above is Golden Mickey, by Paris based graffiti artist Andre. It fuses a gold leaf-covered Mickey with Andre's famous Mr A character.

Makoto Azuma, a botanical artist from Japan, created this very unique Mickey Moss design.

But probably my favourite is Mickey Loco Does Compton by Mr. Cartoon, incorporating his East L.A. style of tattoo and lowrider culture to create this amazing candy-coated air brushed piece.

Travelling Mickey on Hypebeast

Hypebeast did a feature article for us on our upcoming Travelling Mickey exhibition. We gave 10 notable artists/designers from around the world a blank canvas in the form of a white Mickey statue, and asked them to create their own interpretation of Disney's most iconic character. Contributors include Andre, Cassette Playa, Dr. Romanelli, Eric So, and Mr. Cartoon, to name a few.

The exhibition kicks off in Shanghai on July 15th at Man Is In The Forest, then moves to Hong Kong, and finally to the upcoming Man Is In The Forest Taipei. During the exhibition period, the one-of-a-kind statues will be up for auction via online bidding, with the winners announced at the conclusion of the exhibition tour. Limited edition tees have also been created as part of the project. A portion of the proceeds from the auction and tee sales will go to charity.

CLOT x Disney @ Taipei Toy Festival

CLOT will be exhibiting at the Taipei Toy Festival this year, featuring a number of our collectible vinyl figure collaborations, including our Year of the Tigger, BambiTron, a 5ft. tall Rex from Toy Story, and the 3-Eyed Mickey from the Disney animated film Chicken Little.

Ten notable artists from around the world were given a blank canvas in the form of a white Mickey statue, and were asked to give their interpretation of Disney's iconic mouse. We will be exhibiting the designs for charity auction soon. Stay tuned..

Disney x CLOT x PHANTACi Phantasia Pack

This past weekend we held a press conference in Taipei to launch the Phantasia Pack, in collaboration with two of Asia's biggest celebrities - Edison Chen and Jay Chou - crossing over their respective brands, CLOT and PHANTACi, with Disney. The collection is inspired by the classic 1940's Disney animated feature Fantasia. The collection will be available in Taipei at PHANTACi, in Shanghai at Man Is In The Forest, and in Hong Kong at Juice.

Vintage Disney by Size Magazine

Size Magazine did a great special insert booklet for us this month, featuring Dr. Romanelli's Vintage Disney collection at Man Is In The Forest. In an exclusive interview, Dr. Romanelli talks about Disney, his passion for vintage items, and the way he deconstructs it and incorporates it back into his work.

This photo shoot shows some of the great Disney nostalgia that Dr. Romanelli was able to find, drawing from his vast knowledge of vintage warehouses, secret stashes, and collectors.

We released these Mickey inspired slip-on room shoes together with CLOT and Japanese footwear brand Cause.

Vintage Disney @ Man Is In The Forest

Today we launched our installation of Vintage Disney by Dr. Romanelli at Man Is In The Forest. Dr. Romanelli has spent the last 6 months scouring the vintage warehouses and 2nd hand markets for collectable Disney memorabilia. He's dug up souvenirs, toys, and apparel dating all the way back to the 1950's up to the late 80's, from old metal lunch boxes and hand puppets, to crazy all-over print polyester dress shirts and vintage tees. He's even put his special cut and sew remix touch on a number of custom one-off Dr. X items.
