Parting Gift

My friend Allister, who, apart from being an amazing illustrator and designer, has a love for, and an impressive collection of, black markers:

A while back, he was in Shanghai for a couple months working on some projects here. Before he headed back to Canada though, a few of us got together for a farewell/Thanksgiving dinner, and to our delight, he had presents for each of us! This quirky flourescent illustration now sits next to me at my desk. Thanks Allister!

Grrr!..

Back in Thailand again for the weekend.

Bad Asses

The 70's and 80's were a great time to be a kid. I don't think any other era produced as many movie, t.v., and music icons. I found this cool little book last time I was in Vancouver, wandering along Main St. Bad Asses, by Mark Todd, is an illustrated scrap book of all the most memorable "tough guy" (and girl) characters from my growing up - from Hulk Hogan and Chuck Norris, to Skeletor and She-Ra, to Daisy Duke and Maude, even K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider, they're all there. This book is, well, bad ass.

My Little Pony

I dunno, I just like this guy -

he makes me smile. He's the mascot for the local horse racing track Tokyo Keiba City.
