Beavers & Horses

I like my instant oatmeal for breakfast, and tried this new box of apple cinnamon.  More than anything though, I love the colour combo of this packaging.  Bonus points to anyone who can guess the question to this answer.

My Hood - The Mobile Dollar Store

There's this lady that circles around the block on her peddle cart, selling this, that, and the other.  From shoe polish and laces, to toilet brushes and coat hangers, to baseball caps and t-shirts - you need a quick fix, she got what you need.

Sidewalk Logic

The guy was picking bean sprouts, I got that much.  But why was he wearing a floral apron over his parka?  And why were there 2 pairs of shoes right next to him? Trying to figure out his logical sequence of actions had me slightly stupefied. (or maybe he wasn't logical?..)

My Hood - The Card Players

On my way to work in the mornings, I usually pass by this crew playing cards.  It doesn't matter what the weather's like - it could be cold enough to numb your limbs, or hot enough to make you faint - they are sitting out there playing by 9:00am pretty much without fail.

My Hood - The Guitar Shop

Across the street from my apartment is this little shop that seems to repair all sorts of stringed instruments.  You can't even walk inside - it's just like a small take-out window.

Geeking Out

So I spent a good chunk of my holiday lazying around on the couch recovering from turkey coma, playing video games with my brother. We managed to finish three games in the few days I was home.

Kane & Lynch: Dead Men

Two death-row inmates escape and....actually, you know what - I don't even really know what the story was about - it wasn't very clear. It kind of skipped over a lot of details. Graphics were so-so. Some of the fight scenes were cool though, like when you're trying to escape the police in a street shootout, reminiscent of the movie Heat. But the computer a.i. is laughable. Overall, the story was weak. And the ending was like, "What? That's it?!?". Not recommended.

Halo 3: ODST

I won't explain the entire Halo trilogy, but ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) takes place at the same time as Halo 2, where troopers remain on Earth to fight the Covenant. Especially after just playing Kane & Lynch, the graphics and game play were so much better. The storyline is much more detailed and the atmosphere is great, aided by a very fitting soundtrack. If you like the Halo series, you'll definitely like this one too. Great game!

Gears of War 2

Basically the storyline is just lots of killing aliens and blowing up sh*t. Details in the graphics are amazing and the alien designs are awesome. Great gameplay - very cinematic at points (the black tunnel freaked me out!). Had me on the edge of my seat for most of it! Definitely my favourite of the 3 games.
