Ever seen that show on Discovery Channel called Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe? Well, I think this job would be right up there with the worst of them.
Most of the old lane houses in my area do not have plumbing. You've heard that term, "..not even a pot to p*ss in."? See that wooden bucket and that white and orange pot? Yep. These are those pots. That's what people do their number 1's and 2's in. And every morning, they need to be emptied and cleaned. This old lady comes around to your house to collect your pot, cleans them out, and brings them back to you.
There must be a communal dumping point somewhere (luckily I've never seen it), but a side note: try to avoid walking on the road near the curb, because sometimes I see them scrubbing out these pots in the gutter. So unless you don't mind walking through toilet water, stay on the sidewalk.
